To organizations seeking or maintaining IAS accreditation, which are located outside of the U.S.A. and its territories:
As a signatory to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation / International Accreditation Forum / Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation MRA/MLAs, IAS is obligated to document that you are aware of the following details related to applications for IAS accreditation from Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) which are located in countries outside of the U.S.A. and its territories:
- There may be an accreditation body in your country that is signatory to the ILAC/IAFMRA/MLAs.
- Signatories to the MRA/MLAs enjoy international mutual recognition benefits.
- You may wish to research costs associated with accreditation with your localaccreditation body, as this may be more economical.
- The local accreditation body may have a better understanding of the local culture andconditions within your economy.
If you have any questions or concerns about these matters, please let us know.
Statement of Understanding
I have read and understand IAS’s requirements for accreditation of organizations which are based out of the United States and its territories. The organization I represent has considered the benefits of accreditation with the local accreditation body, and due to business reasons elects to apply for (or maintain) accreditation through the IAS.
